This will receive a public reading at Live Theatre on 1st May 2014.
A great two day workshop followed by a reading at Live Theatre at the end of May 2013. Hoping to build on this to see the play head towards a full scale production.
So The Prize had its first preview last night to a full theatre! Was warmly received. Steve and the actors have done a wonderful job and the set and lighting look delicious!
Countdown to the opening in Edinburgh has begun - less than a week to go now... The play text will be published on the same day http://oberonbooks.com/edinburgh/the-prize Very exciting day all round... Delighted to say that Murmur has recieved the Arts Council support for The Prize. This is the documentary Theatre piece that I am developing weith Steve Gilroy. The piece will be co-produced by Live Theatre and Murmur and will appear at Live Theatre in July as part of the Cultural Olympiad before going to the Underbelly at The Edinburgh Festival and returning to Newcastle in September. So the shoqw will straddle the Olympic and Paralympic games. For the draft artwork look at my home page!
So Future Shock went pretty well at the Lowry last week. A really excellent review from What's On Stage. Click on this link.
We hope we might start to plan a commercial tour now that the piece has some stage time and has been so well received. Thanks to Elisa Amesbury for doing such a good job bringing it to life. Future Shock is to feature as part of the RE:Play Festival in Manchester at The Lowry 26th, 27th and 28th January 2012 - so fight for a ticket!
You can see the event page on Facebook An article I wrote about writing science fiction for the stage is published online today. Click here if you would like to read it!
